Banned Books Week is held every year to celebrate our First Amendment right to read, discuss, and promote a diversity of views and opinions. Many thousands of books have been challenged or banned throughout history including classics like To Kill a Mockingbird, religious books like The Bible and The Koran, and political writings such as The Communist Manifesto. Recently, young adult books like the Harry Potter series, the Twilight series, and many others have been banned or challenged. To see the full list of Banned Books and the reasons they were banned, come visit the library display.  You can find out more at the American Library Association's Banned Books website.
